The Mayor of Kendal Cllr Chris Hogg and his wife Cllr Rachael Hogg who is a Business Support Manager for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to announce that the Kendal Organ Donor Project has passed its half way mark at the end of October. A total of 528 Kendal residents have registered to become organ donors. The aim is to achieve 1000 donors by the end of May 2016 so this is an enormous achievement at the end of month 5.
Cllr Chris Hogg said:
“I am genuinely touched by the response we have had from the people of Kendal, many of whom have come up to me in the street to say they support the project and wish us well.”
Rachael said she is “overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received”.
They are currently waiting for a transplant date when Chris will donate a kidney to Rachael, who had a previous transplant 25 years ago.
Mike Taylor, Chair from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said:
“This is a great accomplishment for the Kendal donor team and all of the Kendal residents who are now registered to become organ donors. We as a Trust will continue to support the team working towards their target.”
The Castle Green Hotel Kendal which has been supporting the project plans to offer a special cake for the project volunteers to celebrate this crucial number of 500 donors.
