Health & wellbeing advice for Westmorland show visitors

Representatives from Bay Health and Care Partners are coming together at the Westmorland Show on 14th September for a fun filled, informative day with plenty of opportunities to get involved.

This year we have representatives from a variety of NHS organisations including Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB), NHS Morecambe Bay CCG (MB CCG) and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). Everyone is looking forward to meeting visitors to the show and supporting them to have better health and wellbeing.

More than 100 health colleagues from across Morecambe Bay will be attending on the day and forward to welcoming visitors to the marquee, which is located next to the main ring.

Amy Lee, GP lead for Kendal Integrated Care Community says: “The Westmorland County Show is a brilliant way for health professionals to reach out to the local community. This year is set to be our biggest marquee yet and we’ll need every bit of it to fit in all the excited stallholders!”

The ever popular paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service will attend the stand with a working ambulance and will also be on hand to answer questions about the service they provide across the region. Children and adults will get to see inside of the ambulances and learn all about resuscitation and first aid advice. For the first time we will also have a ‘Simbulance’, which will be making its maiden voyage. The Simbulance is an interactive teaching ambulance, which will allow people to fully understand how an ambulance works and how to use the various equipment. In addition we will have representatives from the eye service, physiotherapy, local GP practice, community family services, hygiene, smoking cessation, maternity and Kendal organ donor town – to name but a few!

The team will also be accompanied by the wonderful team from the hospital radio who join  every year.

The Westmorland Show is located at the showground near Crooklands, Kendal.
