New Non Executive Directors appointed

Two new Non Executive Directors have been appointed to Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust’s Governor's Council has approved the recommendation by its Nominations Committee to appoint Helen Bingley & Brian Hetherington to the positions following a comprehensive recruitment and selection process.

Helen Bingley (pictured top right) is due to retire from her current self-employed role as Managing Director of Bingley Consultancy Ltd which in the past 15 years has supported senior managers in the NHS and other public, private and voluntary sector organisations achieving successful strategic change.  Previous roles include Chief Executive of an NHS Trust, Executive Director of several NHS Trusts, Non-Executive Director of NHS Employers, Head of Teaching and Learning at University of Central Lancashire, and she has also practised as a psychiatric nurse.

Current voluntary roles include:

  • Founder member, Trustee and Chief Executive of The Abaseen Foundation UK, a UK registered charity set up in 2002 to develop health and education in North West Pakistan
  • Trustee and Treasurer of Mind in Furness
  • A Queens Award Assessor
  • Bereavement Councillor

Helen is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

 

Brian Hetherington (pictured bottom right) has worked for forty years in a Blue Chip FTSE 100 private sector company, the last 20 years in senior roles in Finance, Change Management, Risk Management, Project Management, Commercial, Operations and Engineering and in the last two years has been the functional lead on the company’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.  Brian has also been a Non-Executive Director in large complex public sector organisations, including Morecambe Bay NHS PCT and the University of Cumbria, as well as the SME sector, in the past eighteen years. 

Brian is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Helen Bingley said,

“I am delighted to be appointed to this very important role. I have spent more than 40 years working in the NHS, during which time I have learned a great deal. I hope to contribute my knowledge and experience to influence a positive experience for patients and staff in the Trust. This is a challenging and interesting time for the NHS and the Trust and I am greatly looking forward to contributing to the Trust team to meet the challenges ahead.” 

Brian Hetherington said,

“I am delighted to have been selected to join the Cumbria Partnership Board at this time. Having previously been associated with Morecambe Bay PCT and the University of Cumbria, at times of similar organisational development, I hope my experiences can help colleagues through challenging times for the NHS”.

Helen Bingley’s appointment commenced 2nd January 2017 for a three year term of office to 31st December 2020.

Brian Hetherington’s appointment commences from 1st February 2017 for a three year term of office to 31st January 2020.

The two new Non Executive Directors will replace Dr Hilton Dixon who has retired due to ill health and Wanda Rossiter who has come to the end of her four year term on 31 January 2017.
