Published: 5th February 2016
A collaboration between two NHS Trusts has resulted in fundraising success for the British Lung Foundation Hospital Challenge.
Alison Brenton,Respiratory Occupational Therapist from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said:
“The British Lung Foundation Hospital Challenge is a challenge that aims to get NHS Trusts to raise money for the charity to aid in research relating to respiratory disease. When our team were told about it we thought it was a fantastic idea and thought of different things we could do to raise money.
“As part of the challenge we took part in a sponsored walk, organised a quiz fundraiser and also sold raffle tickets. 11 teams took part nationally but we were crowned the British Lung Foundation champions and raised a brilliant total of £2,517.52. The Bay Breathers are now looking for a new challenge to get their teeth into this year!”
The team which call themselves the ‘Bay Breathers’ comprises of team members from the South Lakes Community Respiratory Team from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the Respiratory team from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, led by Dr Mark Wilkinson.
