Better Care Together and Millom to take to the national stage as an exemplar of good practice
Published: 26th August 2015
Millom residents and representatives will be showcasing the good work of their Cumbrian community next week at the biggest event in the healthcare calendar.
Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Director of Service Improvement, Dr John Howarth, will be part of delivering a workshop alongside Millom Alliance’s Jenny Brumby at the NHS Expo 2015 in Manchester. They will be using examples from the ‘Millom model’ to discuss how other areas can succeed by mobilising communities at scale for health and wellbeing.
NHS Expo is an annual event hosted by NHS England which sees 5,000 delegates a day from health and care, voluntary sector and local government organisations, come together for an event with more than 100 workshops and seminars from the likes of Jeremy Hunt MP, Sir Bruce Keogh and Roy Lilley.
Dr John Howarth said: “To be asked to speak about the great work of Millom at such a prolific healthcare event is an honour. So much positive community-led work has happened in the town in the last year or so, and we will be using the new care models not only to showcase our hard work but also to help other communities in England learn from us.”
