Millom’s scheme to become the UK’s first Donor Community
Published: 17th June 2015
Efforts are being made to help Millom become the first Donor Community in the UK and possibly the world.
Working with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) the aim is to encourage 50% of the eligible 13000 residents of South Copeland to become a donor of some sort. This does not just mean end of life organ donation but also blood, platelets, bone marrow and living donations, including sperm.
The first event is an Around the Combe Community Donor awareness drop in day on Thursday 18th June 3-7pm at Millom Pensioner's Hall (Tin Chapel), Devonshire Road.
Everyone is welcome to attend the drop in day and have a chat with NHSBT professionals to find out about the different ways to give someone the gift of life.
Refreshments will be available during the event.
