Our glimpse of brilliance this week is Zoe Toon, receptionist for memory and later life services at Garburn House, Westmorland General Hospital. A member of staff emailed us to say: “Zoe remembers names and greets people warmly, knowing who they are here to see, and if there’s a delay. Despite the pressure on rooms, she knows who is where and who she can move around to accommodate almost any request. She goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone’s needs are catered for, whether they are big or small; and she is always kind and caring in all her interactions. She always has a positive attitude and is professional and dependable. “All of this is done with a smile, without signs of stress to the public or colleagues, and whilst juggling a dozen requests. She handles difficult calls calmly and supports anxious patients with genuine empathy. Zoe embodies the Trust values in everything she does. I just think she’s fab and makes everybody’s job easier and better.” ✨
