Cardiac Rehabilitation Services
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a six week programme of exercise and education designed to help patients manage their heart condition and improve their quality of life.
It is delivered by a specialist Cardiac Rehabilitation team which includes Physiotherapists, Nurses, Dietitians, Pharmacists and Occupational Therapists.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is beneficial for people who have recently experienced one or more of the following:
The six week course aims to equip patients with as much knowledge as possible about their condition and how to manage it. The course covers exercise, education & advice, emotional support, informal & practical advice on healthy eating, managing stress and medication. At the end of the six week programme, patients should have more confidence and improved ability to return to a normal fulfilling life.
What our patients say about us:
At the start of the programme I was very anxious about exercising, I even found it difficult walking down the corridor to the gym. Now I go out alone without worrying. I feel so good I could do almost anything and that’s down to the marvellous staff who fill you with confidence.
The majority of referrals come from hospital on a patients discharge or from GPs and consultants. However, any healthcare professional can refer patients into the service or contact the team for advice.
