Cumbria Community Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (CCABIRT)

CCABIRT is a county-wide community inter-disciplinary team providing time-limited rehabilitation to adults (aged 16 and over) following acquired brain injury (ABI) who are registered with a GP in Cumbria.

Who we help

We help adults who have an acquired brain injury and their families. Many people who have suffered a brain injury caused by a fall, accident or illness have difficulties returning to their normal lifestyle. But the road to recovery can be long and people often need specialist help to get back their independence and quality of life. We work very closely with our clients to ensure that we strive to meet their goals.

Our client group

The main client group will be those with a newly acquired injury to the brain, usually as a result of a serious head injury. Referrals are also considered in respect of people in the community who have suffered an acquired brain injury in the past and who are continuing to experience specific problems relating to that injury, which may respond to input from the team.
