Meet our Governors
Term Expires: 2020
I have Governor experience in Cheshire and Wirral NHS Trust before moving to Lancashire. Now Involved in rural seniors health issues.
To use my knowledge and experience of being a Governor in a nearby Trust and creating/supporting grassroots projects in urban and rural areas addressing mental and physical health. I recently organised events for seniors about dementia, financial planning in older age, residential care, enduring power of attorney, keeping fit and eating well. I’ve been involved in promoting research into mental health and young people and in interviewing/selecting non-executive directors. As an older person in a rural area I'm keen to work for the improvement of health services at all levels for isolated older and disabled people in rural communities. As a service user on various occasions I am very supportive of the hard work and dedication of NHS staff and would promote the best terms and conditions of service.
I am interested in Mental Health - especially Dementia and Eating Disorders. Research into how best to support those experiencing mental health issues within the local community.
I have knowledge and experience in Leadership, Listening, Observation, Problem Solving. I’ve also been a creative leader in many different situations and organisations from responding to communal unrest in Hulme and Moss Side in 1981 as Rector of Hulme to creating a Scarecrow Festival and Village Trust on Wirral. I was previously an active NHS Governor. As an ethicist, I was chair of Unilever Research Ethics Committee and have experience of dealing with complex corporate issues. I was fundraising trustee of Hornby Village Trust.
