Meet our Governors
Term Expires: 2019
I am a campaigner for mental health for many years and South Lakes rep for Cumbria Mental Health Carers and Users Forum.
I have been actively involved as a carer in a number of Cumbria-wide Mental Health bodies including the CCG's Mental Health Partnership Group, Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide and the Crisis Care Concordat. I believe I could do more if I also became a Governor for the Trust. My major area of concern is what I call “Continuity of Care” by which I mean proper transfer of users from children's to adult MH and continued support in the community after discharge from hospital. I am also concerned about problems resulting in underfunding of services in general and how best they can be addressed.
My special subjects are a) Suicide Prevention and b) Care support after discharge.
I have many years experience as a carer, both of my wife (who suffered from depression) and my brother (who suffers from schizophrenia). I have also, as a rep for Cumbria Mental Health Carers and Users Forum, maintained a knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in providing MH in Cumbria. In addition, I am actively involved in liaising with the Kendal ICC and with the MH workstream of the new Morecambe Bay CCG.
