Meet our Governors
Public/Deputy Lead Governor
Term Expires: 2019
Keith was elected as a Public Governor for Copeland in September 2012, re-elected in September 2015 and re-elected again in December 2018 for a one year term. He has sat on a number of Special Interest Groups and is currently serving as Chair of the Governance group. He is also the Vice Chair of the Governors Advisory Committee and member of the Nominations Committee which is responsible for appointing Non-Executive Directors, including a Chair, to the Board.
Keith has been appointed unopposed as the Deputy Lead Governor (3 July 2017).
Keith is a Chartered Engineer and Company Director with a background in hi-tech innovation, company trouble shooting and change management. He has worked for British Rail, British Aerospace, Thorn, Department of Trade & Industry and Sellafield.
Drawing on his experience as a trouble-shooter he takes an active interest in community hospital assessments, such as PLACE (Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment) as he likes to be assured that staff are happy. Happy staff, he believes, greatly reflects on the quality of patient care, the general atmosphere and well being of our hospitals. He also likes to delve into the finances - being the life blood of an organisation - and maintain a watching brief on research programmes that might improve NHS services.
He has lived and worked in Cumbria since 2002 and plans to stay as he and his wife love the local people and beautiful countryside. He is a member of a range of community organisations from Astronomy to French Exchanges, CAMRA to theatre groups and fell walking to bell ringing.
