I am committed to promote Best Appropriate Care for all Patients and Good Working Practices for Staff members
Since becoming a Governor I have been able to draw on my past career in the NHS and learn of current practices, enabling engage with fellow-Governors in seeking 'Best Practice' methods and delivery of these. I would like to continue to be able to make a positive input to the debates and decision-making within the Trust, regarding bringing about Best Practice for Service Users and Staff.
I am interested in the whole of the Trust's work, but especially in enhancing Community Care for those who need it, and in Mental Health issues. I believe that all patients should receive best possible appropriate care.
Having spent 33 years as a Practice Manager, enabled me to develop learned skills and natural abilities. I went on to obtain a degree as a Person-Centred Counsellor, and working with many people who had mental health issues due to life problems. I feel that my management skills enable me to understand and corrolate issues of techniques and problem-solving; and that encounters with Clients and their families & supporters has enabled me to listen carefully and assess situations before making decisions. Being an older person also has afforded me the ability of being able to hear the points of view of others, without necessarily having to agree with what they say.
Declaration of Interest: Member of Labour Party; Mayor of Maryport 2015-2017
