Meet our Governors
Term Expires: 2019
After long involvement with the NHS, including CPFT, I believe I can continue to help improve health services in Cumbria.
Governors play a key role in ensuring that the Trust Board and the Executives deliver the best possible health services, within their finite resources, to the county. Embedded in their community Governors are able to reflect the health and social needs of their community and ensure that they are properly addressed by the decision makers in the Trust. I am particularily interested in Community and Mental Health services.
Having held non-executive roles for 25 years in the NHS, including CPFT, and been a Public Governor for the past year I have developed a good understanding of how the system works within its financial and statutory constraints but also a good sense of how services can be improved. I am actively involved in Cumbria’s third sector - Chair of Action for Health Cumbria (the CVS supported network of third sector health providers), a Trustee of both CVS and Citizens Advice Carlisle & Eden and County President of St John Ambulance Cumbria - all helping improve and extend my knowledge and understanding of the health and social needs of the county. Previously in my working life I have held responsible roles in the private sector in the UK and overseas and in the public and third sectors in the UK, all of which have given me a range of skills and knowledge helpful in fulfilling the role of a Public Governor.
