Meet our Governors
Rachael H Davies
Term Expires: 2019
Rachael was elected unopposed in September 2016 for a 3 year term.
I know I will be able to give an honest opinion and provide a voice for others.
I would like to be a governor because I know I could provide a different perspective. I may not be a councillor, but over the years I have made sure I have kept abreast of any political issues especially when concerning the NHS. I would like to help the NHS communicate better with patients to help improve patient care.
All aspects, children's and adult mental health especially. There also appears to be a gap in services regarding transitions of where children go over to adult services especially for those with disabilities who would probably not cope on a ward where the average age would be 60, which often happens. Also is there a disaster strategy? I became one of the numerous victims of Storm Desmond and would like to work on a strategy if there isn't already one in place.
I have many skills. I have worked voluntarily with local charities. I co-founded ADHD West Cumbria about 14 years ago. I have been a trustee at a local children's centre and was chair of governors at local school. All these skills will help with the governance role. Most importantly I am main carer for my youngest who has disabilities. I have worked with agencies through Cumbria parent carer forum to help improve services for our children and in doing so have helped save money that would have otherwise been wasted.
