Meet our Governors
Term Expires: 2019
Shahnaz Asghar was elected unopposed in September 2018 for a one year term.
Shahnaz has been a Public Governor with UHMB for 9 years and has significant experience to offer in improving our local health care system. Shahnaz is motivated to change public attitude by improving safety, care and raising standards for mental health and disabilities and has done a lot of work to raise awareness and fundraise for Dementia; which she believes is a crucial issue affecting our community.
Shahnaz is interested in the overall patient and public experience; wanting to make sure that every single person that goes through our hospital system is happy with their care, feels safe and comfortable with our staff and facilities. She also wishes to highlight the importance of our staff, making sure they are heard.
The best way to improve our hospital is by listening to the people and taking these remarks up to the Governors Council in order to see real changes. Shahnaz has a background in teaching, volunteering for charities and she obtained a diploma in child care from the University of Kent.
