Meet our Governors

Bring your passion

Would you like to be an active voice in helping shape health services in Cumbria?

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has a number of Governor positions available across the county.

Governors are elected or appointed to represent the views of local people and work closely with the Board of Directors, advising them on issues such as priorities for forward planning. They also have key responsibilities including: holding the Non-Executive Directors to account for the performance of the Board of Directors; representing the interests of the members of the Trust as a whole and the interests of the public; and the appointment and removal of the Chair and other Non-Executive Directors.

People become governors for a variety of reasons and many feel that it is their chance to make a difference or to give something back.

Lesley Flood became a governor because she was passionate about the difference service users can make to decisions and policies:

“I enjoy meeting with other like-minded people from across Cumbria and working with them to try and help ensure that the Trust provides services which are truly run in the interests of patients and carers as well as providing a healthy working environment for the staff it employs.

“As a Service User myself I like to feel that I can, on occasion highlight how a particular approach or policy may be experienced and perceived by a person on the 'receiving end' of it, rather than just seeing it from a 'providers' point of view.”

Staff Governor, Clare Rice, said:

“I was excited to think that I could have a vehicle for really making a difference to how things worked for patients and staff. I also believe strongly in the excellence of the majority of our staff. I see their commitment and passion and I want to help to support that.

“As a governor you will be able to make a valuable contribution. You will be welcomed into the fold and you will be very well supported by other governors and our head governor.
