In Cumbria over 15,000 people including those who use our services, their carers, staff, members of partner and voluntary organisations and other interested people are members of our Trust.
Our public membership constituencies have recently been extended to include Lancashire (2015) and the North East of England (Cleveland, Durham, Northumbria and Tyne & Wear) (Feb 2018).
The views of our members are represented by 47 individual Governors who work closely with the Board of Directors to develop business plans in line with the needs of local people. Membership is free, and as a Member you will be able to:
- Have a greater say in how our services are run;
- Stand for election as a Governor;
- Elect others to represent you on the Governors Council;
- Receive regular updates about the Trust and its services;
- Tell us about the needs and expectations of your local community;
- Attend the Annual Members Meeting and other Members’ events.
Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. We love to see and hear from our Members and welcome any help you can offer in organising events and spreading the word about becoming a Member in the community.
We also have a publications scheme page which provides details of who we are and how we operate.
Our three year Membership Engagement Strategy sets out our plans to establish, maintain and develop an active and representative membership. This strategy has been reviewed by the Membership and Communication committee and was approved by the Governors Council on 4 May 2017. The Membership and Communication committee will continue to oversee implementation of the strategy and will provide regular reports on progress to the Governors Council.
